A Weekend in Virginia

Hi All, Just wanted to let you know that Leanne and her Basketball team were successful this past weekend in their opening Basketball tournament. They won the Great Ships Invitational. It was awesome to watch. Josh and Nick were able to come and watch Leanne play ball on Friday night and then we went to dinner afterwards. We did lots of laughing and story telling. Great to see the boys. Hope that this finds all doing well. Go Cobbers. Make it a great day. FRAN

It's almost Thanksgiving!
Tim and I will celebrate our second Thanksgiving in Texas next week. Last year, it was hard for me to stay here, while my whole family was together in Minnesota. Now that we are in our new house, it is our turn to host Thanksgiving with our friends.
We have been working on our menu for 2 weeks. The girls in the group, including myself, like to add some flavor to the menu. Traditional, but with a twist. For example, we are planning on making mashed potatoes, but leaving the skins on and adding garlic. For some of our group, this is hard to stomach. I think we'll make plain potatoes for those that don't like to experiment.
Traditional is different for everyone. In my family, we like homemade cranberry relish (my aunt Elvi makes it the best). However, in other families traditional cranberries comes in a can. Yuck! My friend Nina would like to bring corn pudding, it is a tradition in her family. The thought of corn pudding, makes me gag. A vegetable and a dessert all rolled into one doesn't sound like a tradition that I would like to carry on. But, to Nina, it's important. So, in honor of her family's tradition we will have a lovely presentation of corn pudding. When blending 8+ families together and their traditions, we each have to give and take a little. Traditions are important, and they remind us of our families.
I am thankful that I have 8 friends that I get to spend Thanksgiving with. I am thankful that we have 8 traditions that will be shared with each other. Thankful that a piece of 8 different families will live on. I am also thankful that now Tim and I have the opportunity to start our own family traditions. We will blend some of our own families traditions in with our own.
Happy Early Thanksgiving White Family!

Life in Minnesota
Hi Everyone, we sure had a gift of a day yesterday. It was 75 degrees on November 8th. Today the high will be 50 and tomorrow we could get 2 inches of snow. All are well here. Aimee and I are going to visit a campus tomorrow. Katie and Bret are coming home for the weekend. Should be a fun time. Next week we will travel to Newport News, VA to watch Leanne and her team play in a basketball tournament. Josh and Nick are planning to come and watch also. SHould be a fun time. Hope this finds all well. Take care. Love to all, FRAN
